2022
Welcome to 2022!! I'm excited for the new year, yet more worried than years prior because of COVID. It's interesting that I am not as worried about getting COVID as about what the new 'twist' on the pandemic will be this year. Just when we thought it was over, boom - Omicron comes. I try not to think about it, which causes me to think about it more. My bet is that the twist will be a positive one: fewer hospitalizations and deaths. I have to hope for the better, and in any case the data is starting to trend in this direction.
In Chicago (Cook County), you have to show your vaccination card to eat at restaurants, bars, and gyms. I wonder if we are starting to enter a world of the vaccinated vs. unvaccinated. We are already a polarized society, and COVID isn't helping. I wish everyone a healthy and safe 2022!
Good Quote
You don’t have to believe there is a god directing the universe, you just need to stop believing that you’re that director. As soon as you can attune your spirit to that idea, the easier and happier your life will be, because you will have given up the most potent addiction of all: control.

What do you feel on Monday morning when you are approaching work? In Scandinavia, ‘Arbejdsglæde’ means 'work-love'. There isn't an English translation for this term, which I find interesting. The Maptia blog asked over 200 people how they felt about Monday mornings and created a visual representation of the answer. Click on the link to see the visual and learn more about the concept of Arbejdsglæde

“Anyone with a smartphone is familiar with the feeling of having somehow, as if by accident, lost a precious hour to their device. But thinking ill of that behavior only induces guilt and makes the problem worse. It creates a moral hierarchy that some actions are good, and some are bad. We have to realize that anything we want to do with our time is fine as long as we do it on our schedule.”
